Happy Halloween Feet

I whipped up this silly card for today's SCS challenge to use a non-halloween animal stamp to make a halloween card. I also used Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge number 14 for my layout. I colored his outfit with Prismacolor pencils and added orange stickles to his tie and hat brim. Today's challenge is a limited supply challenge so I didn't add ribbon or other embellies.

Penguin stamp: Memory Box

Trick or Treat stamp: M's $1 stamp

Orange patterned paper: Fontworks

Bat paper: Provo Craft

Just a Little Something I whipped Up

Today is my niece's first day of first grade. I just whipped up a card and matching composition notebook to give to her when she gets home from school today. She is my crafting buddy. I know that the first thing she will say will be, "How did you do that?" I used the new cardmaps sketch for the card.
Paper, cardstock stickers: Provo Craft Rob and Bob Studio Super Slab Love in Bloom line.
Composition notebook
Ribbon: Unknown

Enabler Alert

There is a one-day only sale today at Inkspirations. I bought the cute cupcake stamp and I think it will go great with my new Just Johanna sentiment, "Eat the frosting first."

Sorry I've been MIA lately. I've kept up on your blogs but I've neglected mine. I have a bunch of images colored and several projects lined up. I just need to finish them so I can share.

Best Mail Day Ever!!!

So a couple posts ago I wrote about my awesome day with Julie and Tami. In today's mail I recieved an original Lost Luggage work of art. It's beautiful. It is a painted, stamped, altered canvas that measures 5" x 7" and is entitled, "Sing a Song of Friendship." It features 3 little birds. They remind me of Tami, Julie and me. It's gorgeous. And, Julie sent me my first Just Johanna stamp. I'm so excited! Everything came wrapped up beautifully. Thanks so much Julie! You're a great friend and always an inspiration.

Me? Sweet?

Thanks to the three very sweet ladies who think I'm sweet: Kim, Jill and Angie. Who do I think is nice? Everyone who reads my blog. When I started blogging I didn't feel blog-worthy. I don't use the most complicated techniques. I don't own all the latest and greatest products. I just make stuff I feel like making and post it here. I'm totally suprised and grateful everytime I see the counter on my blog increase and I read your kind comments. You are all so sweet. Thank you.

Corn, Kidnappings, and Catching Up

Here are some fun pictures of my weekend shopping excursion. Picture 1: This is the tent sale at Stampington in Laguna Beach.

Picture 2: This is Julie on the phone with Kim. Julie, Tami and I were Kim's personal shoppers for the sale.

Photo 3 is just some of the hundreds of back issues for sale.

Photo 4 is some of the stamps for sale. That's Tami is the green contemplating.

I got out of there with one stamp and one magazine. Then, Julie kidnapped us and took us on a tour around her town. And, we got to see the Luggage Shack which was so cool in person. I rarely get excited about a trip to Michaels but Julie's M's was having a 90% off the clearance price sale. OMG. I bought 3 bags of stuff for $6! We also made a trip to Tall Mouse Crafts and my favorite California Chinese: Pick up Stix.

From there I headed to our church beach party aka "The Corn Roast". I ate 3 ears! It was awesome. They cook the corn in the beach water on the fire pit. Then you dunk it in melted butter and top with whatever. I had one with parmasan cheese. Yum!

Now, I'm catching up after being offline for 2 days. Beep Verizon!

Happy Froggy Birthday

This card was really tricky for me. I challenged myself in several ways (some on purpose.) The layout is a Kerry Urbatch sketch on Barb's blog. That wasn't the hard part. I realized a couple months ago that I like the color purple but I don't like crafting with it. Like, it hurts my brain. But, I have this pretty shimmery paper that was cuttlebug embossed. It was a RAK from Jan and I've been wanting to use it for a long time. Okay, here's where it got tricky. I got this cute frog image a month or so ago. I started coloring him last night and realized (too late) that he is on watercolor paper. Note to self, Prismacolor pencils don't work well on watercolor paper. Also, my usual adhesive does not work with watercolor paper. But, I do have one watercolor pencil and it's purple. So, I watercolored around froggy in purple. Shwoow. Cardmaking shouldn't be this painful.

Congratulations Hedgie!

I received a sweet RAK of Hedgie images from Nancy from the Stamp Shack. I used my Marvy Markers and went a little crazy with my new Lumocolor pen that I just bought for doodling.

Countdown to National Card Making Day

As I posted previously, I am super excited about our new LSS, The Scrapbook Garden. I am slated to teach two cardmaking classes on National Card Making Day on Saturday, October 6th. At noon we are doing a fall-themed class with 2 Halloween, a Thanksgiving, and a Fall card. At 3:00 we are doing Christmas cards and tags. I'm so excited! I just know it's going to be a lot of fun.

My Card for Barb's Bingo Game

Barb is hosting a BINGO game on her blog this week. She calls extra numbers for each card that follows one of Kerry Urbatch's special sketches. Here is my entry. I used scraps from my last Halloween card and added some $1 Haunted Hollow ribbon.

The top card is a sneak peek of my cards for Kim's Halloween card swap at the Stamp Shack. The second card is my niece's version. Notice the frayed edges. Oooh aahhh. And, she set up the card to be photographed. Notice the various papers for her backdrop.

Black Cardstock: Prism
Stamps: Autumn Leaves elegant flourishes by rhonna farrer (I used 5 from the set) Michael's $ spider web and "Happy" and "Halloween" and an unknown spider web stamp

Some Southeast Asian Flavor

Here are a couple of cards inspired by the culture of Southeast Asia. I used some fun new products. The giraffe pattern paper is a part of the new Screen Prints line by Hambly Studios. This particular paper is really thick cardstock with a very metalic shimmer. I think it goes great with the Spice of Life Collection from Frances Meyer. I cut out images of the elephant and the tiger from Bengali Jungle, inked the edges with Making Memories ink and added a little sparkle with Icons from Me and My big Ideas. Mounted the images on another paper from Frances Meyer's Spice of Life Collection and some Prism cardstock. Both cards measure 5 1/2" x 4 1/4"

Photo Removed. I'm getting published!

Some New Cosmo Cricket Cards

We have a new scrapbook store in town. I am soooo excited. It's called the Scrapbook Garden. Well, I was in there stocking up on paper and the lady asked me if I'd be willing to make some samples for the store so these are my first two.

For the flower card I used my dot sticker technique to make the scallop border. Used faux stitching and paper piercing.

Flowers: Cosmo Cricket Dutch Girl: Alpha-button fashions
Ribbon: Hobby Lobby
Paper: Cosmo Cricket Dutch Girl and Prism cardstock

For the Flag card:
